US-based overhead cranes and hoists supplier Tri-State Overhead Crane has unveiled a new gantry crane with a unique magnetic lifting tool for handling steel from a plasma table.

Tri-State Overhead Crane developed the new gantry crane as a double-leg, double-girder gantry with dual motors and anti-collision sensors.

The magnetic lifting device is specifically developed for the new gantry crane by Ergonomic Partners, a division of Tri-State Equipment Company.

It features a pneumatic cylinder equipped with a lifting magnet from Industrial Magnetics, a US-based magnetic equipment provider.

Tri-State Overhead Crane, in a LinkedIn post, said: “This custom gantry crane features a unique magnetic lifting tool for handling steel off a plasma table.

“The magnetic lifting device, custom-developed by Ergonomic Partners, features a pneumatic cylinder with a lifting magnet from Industrial Magnetics, Inc.

“The crane, developed by TSOC, is a double-leg, double-girder gantry with dual motors and anti-collision sensors.”

Last month, Tri-State Overhead Crane dispatched a crane system featuring a 5-ton top-running single girder crane and a 60ft freestanding runway, designed to enhance material handling efficiency.

The crane is equipped with an R&M Materials Handling’s Spacemaster SX low-headroom wire rope hoist and a Magnetek Flex radio system.

Tri-State Overhead Crane also shipped another 35-ton double box girder crane from its facility, which features a 65ft span with a quad motor set-up.

The crane also features an SX double girder wire rope hoist from R&M Materials Handling (RM) and the Flex EX remote control system from Magnetek.

R&M’s Spacemaster SX wire rope hoist comes with a large drum diameter that creates a vertical lift, and its frame design allows closer end approaches than other hoists.

Magnetek’s Flex EX series of radio remote controls provide a cost-effective solution to the restrictive use of hardwired pendants.
