US-based overhead crane company Handling Systems International has launched The Rover, an advanced battery-powered motorised gantry crane.
The advanced crane offers wireless mobility, eliminating the need for cords and reels, and enhancing material handling capabilities.
Its design provides full mobility and agility, suitable for various industrial applications.
Engineered for modern manufacturing environments, the gantry crane features omnidirectional movement.
The feature allows operators to manoeuvre with precision, including turning, indexing, and crab walking, even in confined spaces.
Its gantry system is powered by rechargeable batteries and supports electric hoist functionality, enabling vertical lifting without a fixed power source.
Handling Systems International president Jake Rehor said: “The industry has been asking for freedom, a way to move loads without tripping over cords or being anchored to one spot.
“The Rover is our answer. It’s smooth, powerful, and mobile in every direction. This crane doesn’t just move, it glides, pivots, and positions with total control. It’s going to transform how manufacturers think about gantry cranes.”
In a separate development, Handling Systems International has appointed Chris Hillman as the Estimating Manager.
Hillman will assist customers with crane sales and product support, enhancing the company’s service offerings.
Jake Rehor added: “Chris has a tremendous background in technical crane sales. He brings a level of professionalism and enthusiasm to our customer base as well as extensive product knowledge. We are excited to have Chris join our growing team.”
Based in McCook, IL, Handling Systems International manufactures custom material handling solutions.
Its product range includes bridge cranes, gantry cranes, jib cranes, NIKORail enclosed track workstation cranes and runway structures.
In 2023, Handling Systems International announced the addition of nearly 60,000ft2 of manufacturing space in Chicago, which is its third expansion in five years.
