Canada-based Unirope has commenced production of Twin-Path slings at its Edmonton facility in Alberta, using a new Slingmax Rigging Solutions roundsling machine.

The expansion follows a long-standing partnership with Slingmax, with Twin-Path slings already being produced at other Unirope locations.

The recently installed roundsling machine is the most advanced in Unirope’s fleet.

It features a robust steel frame, hydraulic tension control, and a digital touch-screen interface for setup, material selection, and quality assurance.

The machine’s setup wizard streamlines operations compared to earlier models.

Investment in the Alberta facility continues with upgrades to testing equipment to meet the stringent standards and unique fabrication requirements of Twin-Path slings.

Comprehensive operator training has also been implemented to ensure consistent, high-quality output.

Unirope president Justin Brown said: “Starting the manufacture of Twin-Path slings at our Edmonton facility will better serve our Western Canadian partners and significantly reduce lead times.

“Our ongoing investments underscore Unirope’s dedication to continual improvement, innovation, and deep partnership with Slingmax, ensuring we always deliver the safest, most advanced lifting solutions.

“Our three manufacturing sites operate under a unified, nationwide service model, each configured to meet local demand but all adhering to our exacting quality standards and rapid delivery promise.”

The Ontario-based company is known for its expertise in manufacturing, distributing, testing, certifying, and inspecting high-performance wire rope and rigging products.

With existing sites manufacturing Twin-Path slings in Ontario and Quebec, the company aims to enhance its service across Canada and select markets in the US and Europe.

The new production capability allows the company to offer fabrication, testing, and repair services nationwide.

The recent developments align with its strategy to provide high-performance wire rope and premium rigging solutions tailored to Alberta’s heavy-industry needs.

In addition to Twin-Path slings, Unirope has expanded its product range to include Helix and Onyx synthetic roundslings from Slingmax.

The new roundsling machine is equipped with Helix, featuring a braided high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) jacket for protection, and Onyx, offering a cost-effective solution with a 100% HMPE core fibre.

Unirope also stocks Slingmax’s Spider Sleeve and Covermax products.

Spider Sleeve is a light-duty HMPE product designed to protect against abrasion, while Covermax serves as the general Twin-Path sling cover, made from bulked nylon material.

Brown added: “These combined investments reinforce our commitment to quality and speed for customers in Western Canada.

“We first partnered with Slingmax to introduce Twin-Path slings in 1988. Over nearly four decades of collaboration, we’ve worked closely with Slingmax to refine the line and cement its reputation as the industry leader in heavy-lift slings.”
