Quebec-based Pro-Direct Industriel (PDI) is carrying out the replacement of an outdated overhead crane at an undisclosed client facility.
The new crane offers a capacity of 7.5t and is designed to improve operational safety and efficiency.
The installation is being managed by PDI’s project teams, drawing on their experience in upgrading industrial equipment for material handling companies.
Pro Direct Industriel president Roberto Palmieri said: “We are currently replacing an aging overhead crane with a brand-new, next-generation model — bringing greater performance, safety, and efficiency to our client’s operations.”
Established in 1989, PDI provides custom industrial equipment solutions and acts as the sole distributor for several products in the sector.
In 2005, PDI added manufacturing capabilities for custom-built overhead cranes and broadened its product line to include gantries, jib cranes, monorail systems and specific hook accessories.
The business introduced a new division called PDI Solutions in 2010 to concentrate on supplying overhead cranes and gantries based on customer requirements by collaborating with various manufacturers.
The company reports a history of managing large-scale projects under challenging conditions and has expanded its operations to accommodate increased demand.
Earlier this year, the company said it carried out projects for customers in the aerospace parts sector and steel mill environments.
The company presented its recent project, a crane cab developed to address the specific requirements found in current steel mill settings.
The design process placed importance on aspects such as operator comfort and safety, while the cab includes integrated control technologies, systems for regulating temperature, and features that provide unobstructed views to support efficient operations.
Most recently, PDI decommissioned and replaced an old overhead crane with a new double girder crane equipped with cab controls. The installation used kits supplied by R&M Materials Handling selected for operational reliability and user convenience.
