Venter Cranes & Industrial Maintenance has installed two overhead cranes at IWL facility and completed the full load testing.

The company used water weights supplied by Uniquegroup during the commissioning process.

Given the time of year, Venter Cranes transported water to the site in a tanker, citing the method as practical despite colder weather.

The firm noted that using water and test bags results in lower costs when compared with using solid test weights and related freight expenses, while still meeting accuracy and compliance requirements.

Following successful testing, both cranes have received approval and are now set for operational use.

Venter Cranes director Bradley Sliedrecht said: “Two new overhead cranes are now installed and fully load tested at IWL. We’ve just completed commissioning using waterweights from Uniquegroup.

“Both cranes have been tested, signed off, and are ready for service.”

Venter Cranes operates out of Saskatchewan and provides inspection, certification, maintenance and parts supply services for overhead cranes.

The company is an authorised service and parts provider for DEMAG and R&M Material Handling equipment in its region.

Its services extend from installation to load testing, covering a range of major crane brands, such as Kone, Shaw-Box, Street, GH and Condra.

Venter Cranes also supplies WaterWeights load testing services and rentals throughout Western Canada.

Recently, the company secured a contract to supply R&M DG overhead hoists to Dinsmore Farming, Metal Fabrication & Machine Shop.

The agreement includes provision of a standard R&M 3t double-girder top-running hoist and a custom R&M 7t double-girder top-running hoist.

The 7t hoist incorporates a low connection design, maintaining an overall height of nine inches from the rail to the top of the hoist to accommodate facility height restrictions.
