US-based Superior Crane Corporation (SCC) has said that it is carrying out precision pre-turning on a 75t hoist drum that will be used in a 75ft span, Class D, top-running, double-girder overhead crane.
The crane will include a 75t trolley and dual 37.5t hooks operating from a common drum. This arrangement is intended to support synchronised lifting and load control.
SCC said: “This configuration is engineered to deliver synchronised lifting performance, enhanced load control, and maximum operational efficiency.”
The system will also use controls from Hubbell and ABB and a gearcase from NORD Gear.
The company carried out the design and manufacture of the lifting systems from the initial stage through production for use in demanding operating conditions.
SCC added: “From concept through completion, we design and manufacture lifting solutions built to perform in the toughest conditions.”
SCC is a design, engineering and manufacturing company focused on overhead material handling equipment and machining.
It manufactures overhead cranes ranging from standard models to custom-built systems for different lifting requirements.
The company’s engineering division handles custom design work, while production takes place in-house.
SCC also supplies hoists, crane parts and complete crane systems in various capacities and products from brands including R&M, Columbus McKinnon and Magnetek.
Last month, SCC started installing 16 cranes and associated runways for a client as the first stage of a larger project. The company’s service team began work on-site and carried out further installation activity in the coming period.
The project required coordination between service crews, production teams and office staff to prepare the cranes and organise logistics.
