California-based service company AC3 has carried out a third-party inspection and proof load test on a newly installed overhead crane from GH Cranes USA at a client’s facility.
Before entering service, the crane underwent a comprehensive verification process, which involved assessment of hook height, trolley and hoist components, an inspection of the end trucks, and a proof load test using weights supplied by AllCal.
The proof load test was conducted at 125% of the crane’s rated capacity to confirm performance under overload conditions.
Upon successful completion of the inspection and testing procedures, AC3 issued a certificate of compliance, verifying that the crane met all operational and safety requirements prior to use in production.
AC3 provided specialised inspection and certification services as an independent body, ensuring that the equipment fulfilled required standards before personnel operated it.
AC3 said: “This is what independent certification looks like in practice. Not a formality — a full verification that the equipment performs exactly as rated before anyone’s safety depends on it.”
GH Cranes USA, responsible for installing the crane, manufactures various lifting solutions from its Texas and Illinois operations.
AllCal provided the necessary test weights for the verification process.
AC3 serves as a licensed third-party agency, conducting inspections, load tests, and issuing compliance certificates for cranes and related systems across California.
AC3 holds SIT-2 and CA-231 accreditations and provides inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair services for façade access and crane equipment in a range of industrial sectors.
In February 2025, Xytel chose GH Cranes & Components for its expansion project. GH Cranes provided Xytel with an overhead crane rated at 20t, with a 75ft span and a 71ft under-hook.
The installation of the crane was finalised by the team within five days of its arrival.
