US-based Caldwell Group has introduced a new 3D lifting points configurator developed by Germany’s RUD.
The online tool enables users to identify appropriate lifting points for rigging applications by entering project parameters including working load limits, number of chain legs, lifting methods, type of connection, contact surface, and thread specifications.
The configurator also allows filtering based on compliance requirements such as ASME standards and specific application areas such as offshore operations.
Material properties and design options can be selected before the platform generates a list of suitable lifting points, each with technical details and a 3D model, according to the company.
The collaboration between Caldwell and RUD brings these digital resources and lifting hardware to customers across the US and Canada.
Lifting points function as connectors between lifting equipment and loads during processes such as hoisting, rotating, or moving heavy items.
These components include ring lugs, eyebolts, flanges, and similar products that provide attachment points for slings using hooks or shackles.
RUD range product manager Sarah Stitt said: “Choosing the right lifting point for your application is critical to ensuring both safety and efficiency, but with so many options available, it can sometimes feel overwhelming.
“That’s why RUD developed an intuitive online selection tool designed to guide customers through the process. This tool makes it easy to filter through RUD’s extensive range of lifting points, compare product specifications, and identify the best fit for your specific requirements.
“By simplifying the selection process, it not only saves time but also helps ensure compliance with safety standards — giving you confidence that the solution you’ve chosen is both reliable and optimised for your application.”
Additionally, Caldwell continues to expand its RUD In-Stock range. The portfolio now includes items like the ACP-Turnado Automatic Center Lifting Point and VRS Swivel Eyebolts, raising the number of stocked lifting point variants to nearly 200 SKUs.
The range also covers remotely operated vehicle hooks, side pull load rings, centre pull hoist rings, swivel eye nuts, steel eye bolts, load rings, and fall protection points.
In July this year, Caldwell and LGH launched the Caldwell Telescoping Forklift Beam, a custom lifting solution engineered to extend the capabilities of forklifts when handling longer loads.
Developed in response to challenges identified by LGH, this innovative attachment is now available exclusively through LGH, the largest lifting and rigging rental company in North America.
