DeSHAZO has installed a 7.5t box girder crane at a site in South Dakota, supported by a runway that formed part of the building’s engineering design.
The equipment comprises an Underhung Single Girder (UHSG) crane paired with a hoist manufactured by Detroit Hoist & Crane Co.
The Phoenix Deshazo team managed the installation process and layout of the new runway for the crane’s placement. The project required several weeks to complete.
The installed crane features an 83ft span and is positioned on the new runway set up by the installation team.
Following completion, the customer has taken delivery of the new crane and supporting infrastructure.
DeSHAZO service technician Logan Goodwin said: “Got to be a part of a DeSHAZO crane install in the mountains of South Dakota with Randy McVay and Jason Harris.
“This 83’ span 7.5t box girder is sitting pretty on a brand new runway we laid out and installed for a very happy customer.”
DeSHAZO, founded in 1972 in Birmingham, Alabama, specialises in designing and manufacturing equipment for the material handling and automation sectors, including cranes, automation systems and related repair services.
The company operates manufacturing and automation facilities in Alabama and Texas and maintains service locations in multiple states.
DeSHAZO employs over 600 staff across the US, including more than 200 service technicians.
The workforce includes engineers and designers working across structural, electrical and mechanical disciplines, supporting installation, maintenance and repair activities on a broad range of crane systems.
In April 2025, DeSHAZO completed overhead crane load testing at an International Paper facility in Oregon using Unique Group’s Water Weights.
The indoor tests confirmed the cranes’ safety and operational readiness, which were necessary for continuous operation at the site.
