US-based company Laser-View Technologies has revealed a recent installation of a Crane Sentry hoist monitor system for its client.

Details about the client were disclosed by the company.

In a LinkedIn post, the company gave a “behind-the-scenes look” of the system deployment.

The Crane Sentry hoist monitor system is designed to enable operators to monitor the operation of overhead cranes and hoists in real time.

The technology allows staff to identify potential issues before they develop into more significant problems, rather than responding only after damage has taken place, said the company.

The Crane Sentry range, produced and sold by Laser-View Technologies, offers functionality for crane collision detection, zone control, and positioning.

The system, which is manufactured in the US, relies on laser distance sensors to deliver information about crane and hoist positioning.

The equipment is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, maintaining measurement accuracy within 3 millimetres, said the company.

Crane Sentry systems also provide a colour display, touchscreen controls, and programmable relay alarms. The relay outputs can be set to trigger actions such as slowing or stopping the crane when certain conditions are met, noted Laser-View Technologies.

Operators can configure the system to detect collisions between cranes, between cranes and walls, or with end stops, as well as define restricted areas or zones within the facility.

Laser-View Technologies, established in 1999, specialises in non-contact measurement sensors and systems for industrial applications.

The company supplies a range of products and accessories designed to meet the requirements of original equipment manufacturers, machine builders, and end users.
