Mammoet and The Ruhlin Company have completed the replacement of an overhead crane at a metals facility located in Mansfield, Ohio, US.
The project involved removing an existing 350t crane and installing a new 408t model.
By lifting the replacement crane as a single unit, the companies avoided on-site assembly work, reducing disruption to ongoing operations at the plant.
The removal process used a Mega Jack 800 in combination with self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs).
Installation of the new crane finished in under 48 hours.
Mammoet Heavy Haul Dispatch Britton Campbell said: “Impressive execution all around. Removing a 350t crane and installing a 408t replacement in under 48 hours — while minimising operational disruption — speaks to the value of detailed planning and the right equipment strategy. Strong collaboration between Mammoet and The Ruhlin Company on a critical lift.”
