Stigterstaal Canada has announced its plans to enhance its operations with the installation of two 20-ton overhead cranes at its new 90,000ft2 stock facility in Woodstock.
The cranes, supplied by Konecranes, mark a significant milestone in the facility’s construction.
The company aims to move into the new facility by early September, boosting service efficiency for its Canadian customers.
Stigterstaal Canada, in a LinkedIn post, said: “Tomorrow marks a unique milestone as two 20-ton overhead cranes from Konecranes will be lifted into position.
“We’re on track to move in by early September, which will allow us to serve our Canadian customers even faster and more efficiently.”
Based in the Netherlands near Rotterdam, Stigterstaal has been a key player in the shipbuilding industry since 1956, supplying shipbuilding plates and profiles.
The company stocks about 40,000 tons of 3.2 certified steel and delivers materials to over 30 countries worldwide.
The company offers solutions ranging from single truckloads for ship repair to tailored steel supply chains with added services.
Stigterstaal entered the Canadian market in 2010, catering to the demand for marine-grade plates and profiles, initially serving the east coast and expanding its reach to central Canada.
In 2021, the company opened a branch office and stockyard in Brantford, Ontario, to better serve its customers and reduce delivery times.
The Brantford location provides rapid delivery of plates and profiles and is one of the few stockyards in North America to hold 3.2-certified plates and bulb flats in stock.
With a network of steel mills and stockyards in Canada and the Netherlands, Stigterstaal leverages its 65 years of experience in the marine industry to benefit its clients.
