Zelus Material Handling has acquired overhead crane manufacturer Munck Cranes, strengthening its presence, service network and operational capacity across Canada.
Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Zelus, which is a member company of Ardent Group of Companies, will oversee Munck’s current activities during the transition.
The company also plans to continue providing services to all customers without interruption, using Ardent’s combined methods for service, inspection, training, and manufacturing.
Zelus Material Handling general manager Simon Abdelmalak said: “This acquisition represents a natural evolution for both organisations.
“Munck has an incredible legacy in the Canadian marketplace. By integrating their people, products, and capabilities into Zelus Material Handling, we’re not just expanding our reach, we’re reinforcing our commitment to Canadian-built quality and customer support that never quits.”
Through this acquisition, Zelus aims to integrate both companies’ technical resources, production capabilities, and service infrastructure to broaden their collective reach within the market.
Munck Cranes was founded in 1983 and produces overhead cranes and material handling equipment at its plant in Stoney Creek, Ontario. It serves clients across North America, South America, and the Middle East.
Ardent Industries co-president Bryan White said: “Zelus and Munck share the same values, innovation, integrity, and a relentless focus on the customer.”
“This acquisition reinforces Ardent’s long-term vision to build and support strong Canadian brands that make an impact in their industries,” added Ardent Industries co-president Jason White.
Zelus now manages an expanded network that includes more than 55 field technicians and multiple fabrication sites.
It also incorporates a range of inspection, parts provision, and training programmes in collaboration with Engaged Training Solutions.
In October, Zelus supplied a 10t, 52ft long overhead crane to a client for use at a nuclear generating station.
