US-based company GW Becker has installed a 3t top-running, single girder bridge crane for a manufacturer based in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

The company coordinated the supply of materials and managed the production process with vendors to deliver and install the equipment on schedule and within a limited timeframe as required by the client.

The crane spans 52ft feet 6⅜in and has a maximum lift height of 30ft. It is designed and built to CMAA Class D duty standards.

It incorporates an R&M electric wire rope hoist and uses a Remtron PatriotPro radio control system with an alternative pendant control.

The system features a C-track festoon conductor arrangement and includes variable frequency drives for all travel functions, overload protection, limit switches, and a 360-degree swivel hook with safety latch, stated the company.

GW Becker’s team undertook all design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities for the crane.

The team mounted the new crane onto the client’s existing runway structure, completing all necessary structural, mechanical, and electrical connections.

Following installation, the company conducted start-up procedures, made operational adjustments, performed load testing with certified documentation, and provided a final inspection report.

GW Becker has operated as a family-owned business since 1980.

Originally supplying overhead crane parts locally, the company now provides a range of overhead crane products and services throughout North America.

Recently, GW Becker completed the installation of two top-running single girder cranes, each rated for 15t, at a manufacturing facility in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
