North Western Steel (NWS) has installed an overhead crane at an industrial facility in Nevada, US, carrying out the lift in the midst of ongoing construction at the site.
The project required the placement of a bridge crane beam while sections of the building remained open and other trades continued their work below.
The installation process involved multiple pieces of equipment operating together as NWS coordinated the lift sequence, managed spatial clearances, and worked to maintain the schedule in an environment where the building structure was still incomplete.
NWS said: “Coordinating the lift sequence, managing clearances, and keeping the installation on schedule when the building around you is still going up — that’s the job.
“We handle it the same way every time: methodically, safely, and without leaving until the system is certified and operational.”
The company emphasised the importance of early collaboration between project managers, facility owners, and crane contractors in complex construction environments.
According to NWS, elements such as the crane runway design, structural connections, and electrical work must be scheduled accurately to avoid delays or complications during installation.
North Western Steel carries out installation, wiring, testing, and certification of overhead cranes for Nevada’s mining and industrial sectors.
The company states that its services include ensuring projects are completed in line with required specifications and timelines.
Based in Lovelock, NWS operates as a steel fabrication and mobile welding business, offering services across Pershing County and northern Nevada.
The company serves mining, agriculture, construction, and public works clients, with a team of welders certified under AWS D1.1 Structural, D14.1 Heavy Equipment, and D1.6 Stainless standards.

Earlier this month, NWS finished installing an overhead bridge crane system at a pump station in Nevada. The company oversaw all stages of the project, carrying out tasks such as positioning runway beams, assembling the bridge, completing the electrical setup, conducting load testing, and certifying the crane system before transferring operations to the facility.
