We focus on some of the companies making a difference in the US State of New Jersey

SISSCO

As an Executive Member of the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA), SISSCO takes pride in manufacturing cranes that meet the most up-to-date design and safety standards. The company builds cranes in-house for small and large-scale commercial and industrial operations.

‘Our cranes are completely manufactured in-house and rigorously tested for quality and performance. SISSCO is a manufacturer of hoists, overhead traveling cranes, top running and underhung, gantry cranes, monorail systems, jib cranes and below the hook magnet systems. Additionally, we offer turnkey installations, modernizations, 24/7 service, load testing, engineering and design,’ says Bill Schneider Jr., President.

Mi-Jack

The $25 trillion US economy relies heavily on a solid infrastructure foundation. Mi-Jack Travelift RTG Cranes have been contributing to these future infrastructure projects and recently partnered with the state of Virginia, to expand a 10-mile stretch of the I-64 corridor in the Norfolk ad Hampton areas.

The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion project needed a solution to transform a 10-mile stretch of the I-64 corridor consisting of bridges and new twin tunnels within an 11-month timeline. Mi- Jack’s MJ70HD (70-ton) crane equipped with GPS steering was able to map a defined path for every 50-100 yards, ensuring the crane operator never deviated from the path, even while the workspace only allowed for a 6” clearance on each side.

The GPS steering equipped, 70-ton Travelift crane, was used to lay bridge beams for constructing a temporary bridge, in 10’ increments, while the old bridge was being demolished. The 150-ton Travelift was used to move segmental precast pieces from the precast manufacturing facility to load trucks that delivered the segments to the bridge construction site.

"There tends to be a lot of moving parts when dealing with bridge replacement/rehabilitation, the concise direction from Mi-Jack Engineering made this project not only possible but extremely efficient and safe. We put our heads together and came up with a great solution,” said Kyle Alfieri, Northeast regional sales manager, Mi-Jack.

Electrolift

Electrolift has been manufacturing durable and wellbuilt hoists from its Clifton, New Jersey based operation since 1932. It is also one of the oldest manufacturers of worm drive wire rope hoists. In addition to its standard product line of single hook, twin hook, and base mounted hoists it provides customized hoists and equipment for unique applications.

“Our hoists are engineered and manufactured to be rugged and reliable, we focus on providing the highest quality hoist technology, safely and efficiently. Electrolift is a proud member of the Hoist Manufacturers Institute and the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program,” said Steve Pilione, director, sales & marketing, Electrolift.

REMCO

REMCO Overhead Crane in Pompton Lakes, NJ, is a wholesale distributor. It specializes in industrial machinery, including hoists and cranes. It is led by company president Robert E. Morris. The company recently worked on a 5-ton 55' span crane for a customer in central Jersey. ‘We removed two Demag cranes from a building in Belleville NJ about a year ago and today reassembled and installed for them for a new customer in Bridgeston NJ,’ a spokesman said.

Hoist Depot

Hoist Depot, otherwise known as Moye Handling Systems, in Hillsborough Township, NJ, is an overhead hoist & crane specialized service provider serving the New Jersey Metropolitan area for over 40 years in addition to the Midwest.

It services end users as PSE&G, NYCT, MTA, DOE, Exxon, Conoco, GE, NJ Transit among others. For example, it once had a customer who had a 100-year-old crane, but no instructions on how to operate it because their 70-year-old mechanic had retired. There were no manuals and the overhead crane manufacturer had since gone out of business so Moye Handling Systems had to start from scratch by reverse engineering the system.
