American Equipment Solutions (AES) has acquired BC Wire Rope & Rigging, a California-based company that provides wire rope, slings, chains, hoists and rigging equipment.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The move brings together BC Wire Rope’s operations in California, Arizona and Nevada with AES’s overhead crane services.

Established in 1974, BC Wire Rope & Rigging operates six branches across the Western US. The company offers in-house assembly and testing, as well as same-day delivery for its range of rigging products.

With this acquisition, AES intends to combine BC Wire Rope’s below-the-hook rigging supply and service capabilities with its own crane installation, inspection and modernisation expertise.

AES, backed by Rotunda Capital Partners, is a provider of overhead crane and hoist solutions serving customers throughout the US.

This latest purchase broadens its offering to include a more comprehensive suite of lifting equipment and services.

AES CEO Tom Hoyer said: “This acquisition is consistent with our strategy of enhancing AES’ ability to serve customers across the US with a broad suite of overhead lifting solutions and services. We are excited to welcome the BC Wire Rope team to the AES family.”

BC Wire Rope & Rigging co-owner Barry Heavican said: “Similar to American Equipment, we built BC Wire Rope through excellent customer service and delivering products and solutions our customers require for maximising productivity, efficiency, and safety.”

BC Wire Rope & Rigging manufactures wire rope slings, nylon web slings, and the Tri-Flex wire rope slings, delivering to customers from its own facilities.

The company holds several patents in the US, Canada and Mexico, and is a longstanding member of the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators industry group.

BC Wire Rope & Rigging co-owner Bill Clark said: “Our shared value propositions make AES the ideal partner for BC Wire Rope. I am proud to see our team join a growing organisation that invests in its people and customers.”
