Barnhart Crane & Rigging has completed the installation of multiple overhead cranes at Austal USA’s facility in Mobile, Alabama, US.

The operation involved lifting equipment nearly 70ft above ground level and required the use of a BPU system, a Canton Turntable, and cranes with capacities of 300t and 400t.

The project called for detailed planning and involvement from experienced personnel to ensure the installation process followed established procedures.

The company said: “The work brought together the BPU system, a Canton Turntable, and 300t and 400t cranes.

“More importantly, it brought together the planning, people, and field experience needed to execute a controlled installation.”

Austal USA manufactures ships at its Mobile headquarters and operates additional service and technology centres in San Diego and Charlottesville.

The company’s facility utilises a modern steel panel line and a module production system to support the construction of aluminium and steel vessels.
