US-based company Handling Systems International (HSI) has acquired a new 350,000ft² headquarters and manufacturing campus in Bedford Park, Illinois.
The company will move its two existing Chicagoland operations to this single facility, bringing together manufacturing, warehousing, and office activities under one roof.
The new premises provide around 250,000ft² of additional space compared to the company’s current buildings.
HSI indicated the move aims to support its growth and consolidate operations. The location is expected to serve as the company’s main site for the foreseeable future.
Founded in 1957, HSI manufactures overhead material handling equipment such as jib cranes, gantry cranes, bridge cranes, monorails, workstation crane systems, and ergonomic lifting solutions.
The business started as a family-owned company and continues under family ownership through three generations. Its products are supplied through a nationwide network of crane distributors and industrial partners.
HSI president Jake Rehor said: “This investment represents far more than additional space. It strengthens our ability to serve our customers, expand our manufacturing capabilities, and continue investing in the future of our business.”

Most importantly, it positions us to better serve our customers and dealer network for decades to come.”
The acquisition of the Bedford Park facility marks one of the largest expansions in the company’s nearly 70-year history.
HSI has served the industrial equipment sector for decades and continues to maintain a focus on manufacturing overhead cranes and lifting solutions from its Illinois base.
In May 2025, Handling Systems International introduced The Rover, a battery-powered motorised gantry crane designed for wireless operation.
The crane operates without cords or reels, enabling greater mobility and flexibility in material handling tasks. Its design allows for full movement and is intended for a range of industrial uses.
