SafeLift Crane Aid, a division of Venter Cranes, has completed the manufacturing and commissioning of a custom 10t R&M Materials Handling underslung mining crane system for a mining facility.
The company reports that commissioning of the crane system was finalised before the permanent underground shop lighting had become operational, with the team working instead under temporary lighting.
The latest project involved a bespoke R&M underslung crane designed specifically for mining applications.
In this type of overhead lifting system, the bridge runs along the bottom flange of the runway beams, allowing for efficient handling in confined or low-clearance areas.
SafeLift Crane Aid oversaw the engineering, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning stages of the project.
The company stated the system was load tested and commissioned prior to the full installation of permanent lighting, reflecting the team’s scheduling and safety precautions.

SafeLift Crane Aid, which operates as an authorised distributor for R&M, supplies and installs R&M lifting equipment across Western Canada.
Its service roster includes commissioning, inspecting, load testing, servicing, and repairing lifting equipment for mining sector clients.
The company also provides annual and periodic inspections for cranes and hoists, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Additional services offered by SafeLift Crane Aid cover brake inspections and adjustments, safety upgrades, equipment modernisation, retrofit solutions, and technical support.
Recently, SafeLift Crane Aid carried out a load test on an overhead crane, certifying the main hoist for safe operation following the lifting of 40,000kg. The company also performed a structural deflection test at the same load capacity.
