Uesco Industries has manufactured and installed a 20t double-girder crane for use above a steel production line, the company has announced.

The company said the new crane is designed for continuous operational demands, where any interruption to crane functionality halts the entire production process.

The double-girder design was selected for this application because it allows the trolley to travel above the girders, maximising hook height to meet process requirements.

According to Uesco, the configuration also supports higher capacity and longer spans than possible with a single-girder crane, making it suitable for intensive use in steel manufacturing settings.

Uesco Industries manufactures all its equipment in-house, with engineering, fabrication, and installation teams managing each project from start to finish.

Uesco Cranes Midwest regional sales manager Chris Marras said: “This 20t double-girder crane works over a steel production line — the kind of application where the crane and the process are one and the same. If the crane stops, the line stops.

“Proud of the engineering, fab, and install teams behind builds like this one!”

The business, operating since 1921 and still family-owned, specialises in designing and building made-to-order overhead bridge cranes and runway systems.

Its product portfolio includes single- and double-girder cranes, under-running cranes, dual-motor gantry cranes, and runway arrangements tailored to customer specifications.

In addition to producing its own equipment, Uesco also distributes material handling products from other manufacturers in the sector.

Its service offering encompasses on-site installation, routine inspection, and ongoing maintenance, supported by a network of distributors and service technicians across the US.

Last month, Uesco Industries installed 12 bridge cranes at a single facility, positioning each unit on parallel runway systems to cover the entire floor space. This layout ensures that every work zone within the building has direct overhead crane access.

The company managed every aspect of the project in-house. Uesco’s engineering, fabrication and installation teams oversaw the process from initial design through to final installation.
