Zelus Material Handling, a Canada-based overhead crane manufacturer, has replaced an ageing crane at an aluminium casting facility in Pickering, Ontario.
The new crane features a custom-engineered 25-ton double-girder top-running crane with a 10-ton auxiliary hoist on a single trolley, enhancing the facility’s lifting capabilities.
With a span of 21m and a lift height of 12.5m, the new installation is equipped with VFD-controlled motion and radio remote operation.
Its features contribute to safer and more precise lifting operations, supporting the high capacity demands of the facility.
Zelus specialises in the design, manufacturing, installation, and servicing of overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment.
The company provides tailored solutions, whether clients require pre-engineered systems or fully customised installations.
In addition to crane systems, Zelus offers high-quality components to optimise crane performance.
The offerings include hoists, under-hook attachments, advanced controls, and durable accessories, ensuring equipment longevity and reliability.
Earlier this year, Zelus installed three overhead cranes at Steelway Building Systems’ new facility in Eastern Ontario.
Steelway Building Systems specialises in customised steel building solutions for industrial and commercial structures.
The new Waste Management Facility by Steelway Building Systems spans 285ft in width, 450ft in length, and 53ft in height.
It includes a 200ft ClearSpan bay where Zelus’ overhead cranes are installed to maximise operational efficiency.
Zelus has equipped the facility with three 3-ton under-running cranes, two with a span of 53ft and one with 58ft, providing comprehensive coverage for equipment maintenance.
