Quebec-based Smak Design has announced the completion of a 500kg freestanding cantilever jib crane installation for a client.
The installation was delivered by Smak Design’s equipment dealer Ergo Cranes.
The new crane, equipped with the Vulcan Hoist’s GIS hoist, aims to support material handling and streamline workflow within the workspace.
The system is intended to support more efficient lifting operations while occupying minimal floor space.
Smak Design sales manager Alex Maletta said: “This type of jib crane is ideal for improving material handling, increasing productivity, and reducing manual effort—while maintaining a compact footprint.”
He added: “Every system is selected and configured to meet the unique needs of each customer’s operation.”
Smak Design provides industrial handling solutions including engineering, manufacturing, installation, maintenance of equipment, and workforce training.
Its product range includes various types of jib cranes such as freestanding and wall-mounted models as well as different design configurations like cantilever and tie-rod options.
Ergo Cranes is based in Ontario and supplies lifting equipment including workstation cranes, jib cranes, and vacuum lifters to manufacturing businesses.
The company collaborates with established brands in the ergonomic lifting sector to address specific operational needs.
Last month, Smak Design’s equipment dealer WF Steel and Crane carried out the installation and commissioning of a workstation crane with a capacity of 4,400lb at a client site in Canada. The system featured motorised bridges and trolleys to facilitate controlled material handling.
