DESHAZO Cranes has carried out overhead crane load tests at an International Paper facility in Oregon, US, using water weights supplied by Unique Group.
The tests involved 40t and 60t overhead cranes and took place indoors at the site.
The water weights system, developed by Unique Group, provides an alternative to traditional solid test weights for load testing applications.
According to the company, the system offers precision and control suited to industrial settings, particularly in environments with limited space or restricted access.
Water bags are filled to create the required test load, reducing risks and minimising operational disruption compared to traditional solid weights.
Proof load testing for overhead cranes is a routine requirement in sectors such as pulp and paper.
The process is mandated under safety regulations including OSHA 1910.179 and ASME B30.2, which aim to ensure equipment functions properly, supporting safe and continuous plant operation.
The tests at the International Paper facility were completed as scheduled, with the water weights system used to apply the necessary loads and verify the cranes’ capacity.
Unique Group stated that testing was conducted without major interference to site operations.
