Uesco Industries has commenced the installation of a 600ft-long, 10t moment column runway system intended to support two top-running double girder cranes. Each crane will be equipped with low headroom hoists.
The ongoing project involves steelwork specifically engineered to meet the needs of demanding manufacturing environments, where factors such as hook height, strength, and reliability are critical.
The system aims to maximise hook height by using a moment column runway approach, which is particularly useful in facilities where existing structures cannot accommodate the loads required for overhead cranes.
This method allows companies to increase their lifting capacity without modification to their building’s upper structures.

Founded in 1921 and based in Alsip, Illinois, Uesco Industries manufactures made-to-order overhead bridge cranes and runway systems.
The family-owned company manages in-house engineering and production for a range of original equipment, including both single and double-girder overhead cranes, under-running cranes, dual motor gantry cranes, as well as engineered runway systems.
Uesco Industries also functions as a distributor for several brands in the material handling sector.
Support services include installation, regular inspections, and ongoing maintenance across the US, performed through a network of distributors and service technicians.
Last month, Uesco Industries began construction of a $25m headquarters and manufacturing plant in Hammond, Indiana, following more than 100 years of operation in Illinois.
The company is transferring its headquarters and most manufacturing operations to a new 72,000ft² facility located at 5009 Calumet Avenue, close to the Grand Calumet River.
