North Western Steel (NWS) has completed the installation of a 5t bridge crane system at a machining facility in Nevada, US.
The new overhead crane is intended to improve handling of heavy components on the production floor, allowing for safer and more predictable movement throughout the shop.
The project involved the physical installation of the crane, hoist, runway, and electrification, along with a series of technical steps.
NWS aligned the system, electrically integrated its components, conducted functional tests, and secured certification ahead of handover.
This process aims to ensure the equipment operates reliably before it is put into regular use.
According to the company, the addition of a bridge-crane system impacts more than just isolated lifting operations.
Consistent lifting capacity can increase efficiency by supporting equipment positioning, reducing the need for temporary rigging, enabling easier maintenance access, and minimising disruption to surrounding operations.
NWS stated that it coordinates all necessary fieldwork to move a crane project from installation to full operation, including placement, wiring, testing, and final certification.
The company reported that it provides a single point of contact for clients throughout the process, from site review to the system’s final handoff.
Based in Lovelock, North Western Steel provides steel fabrication, structural welding, and mobile welding services for clients in Nevada’s mining and industrial sectors, including mining, agriculture, construction, and public works.
Its team holds welding certifications under AWS D1.1 Structural, D14.1 Heavy Equipment, and D1.6 Stainless standards.
The company also maintains service trucks for mobile work at various job sites across the region.
NWS indicates that safety and adherence to specifications are priorities in its projects, stating that it integrates requirements from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and follows American Welding Society (AWS) standards throughout its operations.
Recently, NWS completed the installation of an overhead crane at an industrial facility in Nevada, US, performing the work while construction activities continued at the site.
