Zelus Material Handling has completed the installation of a 3.2t under-running overhead crane in an aircraft hangar.

The crane provides a dedicated system for material handling and maintenance tasks within the facility.

The new equipment features a 50ft span and offers approximately 19ft 8in of available lifting height.

It is equipped with an R&M low-headroom electric wire rope hoist, as well as variable frequency drive (VFD)-controlled travel and radio controls.

According to the company, the system is designed to enable smooth and flexible operation throughout the hangar.

The company said: “A unique application and another great project from the Zelus team.”

Zelus Material Handling is involved in the design, manufacture, and servicing of a variety of lifting equipment.

Its product range includes overhead cranes, monorails, hoists, and jib cranes used in different industrial applications.

The company also acts as a distributor for several major brands, maintaining a stock of replacement parts that is intended to minimise equipment downtime for customers.

In addition to equipment supply, Zelus Material Handling provides inspection and preventative maintenance services, operator training, and the installation of safety equipment, overhead doors, and dock levellers at industrial sites.

The company became part of Ardent Industries in 2012. Since then, it has continued to support industrial operations across the country with its range of lifting equipment and support services.

In April, Zelus Material Handling finished the installation of a workstation crane at a client site in Strathroy, Ontario. The project included several bays and featured three motorised bridge cranes, each with a lifting capacity of up to 1,000kg.

Last year, Zelus Material Handling acquired overhead crane manufacturer Munck Cranes. The purchase expands Zelus’s footprint, service network, and operational capabilities throughout Canada.
