Ontario-based Zelus Material Handling has completed the installation of a 150t/30t overhead crane and a 295ft runway system for Hooper Welding in Oakville, Canada.
The project was delivered on schedule by the company’s manufacturing and electrical teams, according to statements from Zelus.
The installed crane features an open winch design, a 500A conductor bar, and a 100lb rail.
Bridge-mounted LED lighting has also been incorporated, alongside anti-collision technology and variable frequency drive (VFD) control applied throughout the system.
Hooper Welding has been designing and manufacturing ASME pressure products for more than 65 years.
The company produces items in a range of sizes, weights, and shapes, using various material grades and in line with recognised standards and specifications.
Zelus Material Handling said: “A huge thank you to our Manufacturing and Electrical teams for the hard push to get this equipment completed and ready on schedule.
“And an equally big shoutout to our Installation team for executing the plan in the field, working through challenging high-wind conditions and delivering the installation with precision.”
Zelus specialises in providing lifting equipment, including overhead cranes, monorails, hoists, and jib cranes, for various industrial environments.
The company also acts as a distributor for recognised brands and maintains an inventory of replacement parts intended to reduce downtime for its customers.
Additional services offered by Zelus include inspection, preventative maintenance, operator training, and the installation of safety equipment, overhead doors, and dock levellers at industrial sites.
In 2012, Zelus Material Handling became part of Ardent Industries. The company has continued to supply lifting equipment and related services to industrial clients across Canada.
In 2025, Zelus acquired Munck Cranes, a manufacturer of overhead cranes. This acquisition has broadened Zelus’s service network and operational capabilities nationwide.
Last month, Zelus Material Handling completed the installation of a 3.2t under-running overhead crane in an aircraft hangar. The new crane is intended to support material handling and maintenance activities within the facility. It has a 50ft span and provides an available lifting height of approximately 19ft 8in.
