Kinocranes has provided a 10t European style single girder overhead crane system for a North American equipment distributor and integrator involved in a project located in El Paso, Texas.

The brief required the new crane structure and its electrics to be designed around an electric wire rope hoist already owned by the customer, rather than supplying a complete turnkey crane system.

The scope of the order included a main girder with a 31ft (9.44m) span, end carriages, runway beams, columns, rail, conductor bar, and a 220V/60Hz electrical setup, omitting the hoist from the delivery as this was supplied by the client.

Kinocranes was responsible for ensuring correct mechanical and electrical interfaces so that the client’s hoist would integrate with the newly supplied structure and operation systems.

The company said: “Instead of asking the customer to buy a complete crane and duplicate the hoist they already owned, we designed the crane around the existing electric wire rope hoist.”

According to Kinocranes, the engineering design focused on adapting every dimension and electrical feature of the new crane system to match the specific requirements of the buyer’s hoist, which set the fixed parameters for the project.

This approach, described by the company as important for clarity of responsibility, was intended to provide a single, integrated load path from hook to foundation.

All equipment except the hoist was supplied by Kinocranes and designed according to drawings provided by the customer.

The project’s supplied crane system is classified as FEM A5, with a lifting height of 10ft, a 45ft runway length, and a total installed power of 11.6kW, including the customer’s hoist.

Safety features are reported to include overload, short circuit, emergency stop, and anti-collision protections.

Kinocranes, established in 2008 and based in Changyuan, Henan, manufactures over 3,000 cranes annually.

Its product range covers overhead cranes, gantry cranes, electric hoists, and customised lifting equipment, serving sectors such as steel, energy, logistics, transportation, shipbuilding, and aerospace.

Earlier this month, Kinocranes finalised the commissioning of a 20t freestanding gantry crane for a customer in the US. The crane was installed in the client’s warehouse, as the structure was not suitable for a conventional overhead crane system.
