Graco, a manufacturer of fluid and powder material equipment based in Anoka, US, has installed a custom Gorbel Workstation Crane equipped with a GS Series Hoist at one of its production facilities.

The company, which has operated for nearly a century, aimed to improve efficiency in a tightly packed work cell without altering its existing layout or obstructing workflow.

The manufacturing cell required a lifting solution capable of operating close to surrounding machinery and support structures, where available space was minimal.

To address these constraints, Graco worked with Technical Tool, an industrial equipment supplier, to select a crane system tailored to the site’s specific requirements.

The Gorbel workstation crane included staggered runway supports, a feature that allowed installation without modifying the manufacturing cell or disrupting neighbouring forklift aisles.

Installers made minor adjustments on-site to accommodate the close proximity of equipment and other obstacles. These measures prevented delays and ensured that installation could proceed as planned.

After setup, employees used the crane primarily to move tombstone structures, fixtures used in CNC machining, and to support part inspections and repairs.

The workstation crane provides 2,000lb of lifting capacity, sufficient for the facility’s largest components.

Graco reported that the workflow remained unhindered after installation, allowing routine operations to continue.

The project was completed within budget and met the operational needs identified during planning.

Gorbel, established in 1977 and headquartered in New York, manufactures overhead crane systems and related equipment.

The company has expanded its operations across several locations in the US and Canada, supplying workstation and jib cranes for a variety of industrial settings.

In March, Southeast Rigging installed a Gorbel 1t workstation crane system to enable controlled load movement and reduce manual handling within an active production area.
